“I don’t paint landscapes derived from photos, I paint snapshots of emotions and memories inspired by my life’s experiences. Painting landscapes create the timeline of a visual diary, the use of my palette knife to canvas acts as a pen to paper.”

Biography

Wesley Jones is a Professional Contemporary Artist living in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee and graduated from ETSU with a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. Though her degree is not in the arts, she is self-taught from the age of 8. With a focus on contemporary, abstracted waterscapes and landscapes, she works from intuition and emotion giving her artworks an abundance of movement but also allowing room for interpretation. With spontaneous brush work and the use of a palette knife, the textures give life to her paintings. The use of light gives her work an ethereal quality, while the use of water-mixable oils, cold wax, and acrylic give intricate forms and layers to each piece.

She has made a career selling artworks on social media, most collections selling out. You may also find her work at various art shows/exhibitions throughout the year. Though she has been featured on the cover of an art magazine with a four page spread, been video documented in her studio, interviewed, and in galleries (to name a few things), she keeps that anonymous focusing on the one on one relationship between artist and client. As unconventional as that may be, she believes success comes from human connection.
